Tips and Techniques Tuesday – 6/28/11

As mentioned in a previous post, Layer Cakes are collections of  40 10” x 10” squares put out by Moda Fabrics. These can be used in a variety of ways, but one of the most important things to know is how to slice a layer cake to yield what you want. Moda offers a handy guide to cutting layer cakes, including how to cut the layer cake to produce 4 1/2″ x 4 1/2″ finished squares, 2 1/2″ x 2 1/2″ finished squares, and 4″ finished half square triangles, among others.

Click here to view the guide on Moda Bake Shop’s website. River Place Quilt & Sew carries layer cakes for various collections by Moda.
