Here’s one of my favorite tips. I first learned of it from Eleanor Burns, and recently ran across it in Harriet Hargrave’s books. It’s called “Fanning the Seams,” and we use it when we have a block with many seams coming together in the center. If the seams are pressed to one side, we’ll have a lump that is difficult to work with and to quilt over.
I found a couple of tutorials online to help you learn this concept. For those of you who have purchased Quilter’s Academy Vol. 1 – Freshman Year, you will find the instructions on page 58.
If you are still having trouble with this concept, bring your block in one day, and we’ll help you with it.
Did you know, we are offering Quilter’s Academy Freshman AND Sophomore years again in January, and will be adding Junior year to our Spring schedule of classes? I hope you can join us.
