We are experiencing classic Fall weather here; it is cold, wet, and windy. A few years ago, a tree on our property died. It was a nice, tall, straight tree, so instead of cutting it down, my husband cut all the big branches and left the pole. He planned to build a purple martin birdhouse that looked like our house to sit on top of the pole. He didn’t get around to it, but he did put a bat house on the pole, and we have enjoyed watching the bats in the evenings. A woodpecker loved to visit the pole and make its rat-a-tat noise, too. We had ivy that grew around the base of the tree, so Dennis trained the ivy to go up the pole after the tree died.
When I arrived home from work on Saturday, this is what I saw:
It didn’t hit the garage, and it didn’t hit the dog. We need a new gate, but other than that, it’s all good.
Have a great day!
