Resumes to email address only!

Just Words . . .

I’ve been a bit busy. Vacation was wonderful, and I look forward to the next one.  Doesn’t everybody? I returned last week, and jumped right back into the thick of things. It would help to have some help, but we’re not “there” yet. For some reason, business slowed WAY down sometime in October, and it just now seems to be picking back up. As soon as we get back to whatever “normal” is going to be, I’ll look into hiring an assistant. In the meantime, please be patient with me.

I will soon start ordering in new fabrics, notions, and more. I’ll post here, on the website, and in my newsletters to let you know the latest and greatest. We have a couple really fun classes coming up – have you signed up?

First is the Feathered Star class. dscn2088.jpg

Isn’t it pretty? Patti Mahoney is a good customer and friend, and has offered to teach this class. Let’s fill it and show her our appreciation! The class is two sessions: April 6 and April 13, 10-12. Call or email today to register!

Another FUN class, requested by several of you at our Charity Auction last December, is the Playful Patchwork Jacket by Linda Lee Vivian. We’ve postponed the class – it is now scheduled for Saturday, April 27, at 1:00. This jacket is made on the serger – but you could make it on your domestic sewing machine, as well. Class fee was reduced to $15!

Read about our Slicker Tote class here, and our Make ‘n Take Ditty Bag class here. You can register for these two classes online, or call the store.

Watch for information about another Mystery Quilt class soon.

Have you been finishing the UFOs you registered with River Place? Be sure to let me know – and even if you bring your projects in for show and tell, will you also send an email so I don’t forget to record it? Thanks!

Thank you to all of you who support your local quilt shops. Without you, none of us would be here!

Adding binding my new favorite way!

I recently saw this on Pinterest. I pinned it. I shared it. And now, I tried it. And guess what? It WORKS! The binding isn’t all over the floor. It doesn’t get tangled. It feeds smoothly.

Enjoy!

Margaret’s Monday Mash-Ups – 2/25/13

Thank you to those of you who have written to ask where my posts have been. The short answer is – I’ve been busy. The long answer is – I’ve been busy. But I’ll post when I can.

I chuckle at the end of each day. The days I think I’ll be busy – because the sun is shining, or because it’s Saturday (or some other day that was busy last week) – end up being slow. The days I am POSITIVE I won’t have one customer – because it’s snowing like crazy, because the roads are bad, because it’s freezing cold – end up being my best days. It just goes to show, you can’t predict retail!

It’s all good, though. As long as we sell enough product to pay the bills and bring in new product, we’ve done what we’re there to do. Right?

Just a reminder – River Place Quilt & Sew WILL BE CLOSED from March 8 through March 18. I will be ON VACATION! Please be sure to stock up before the end of the day on Thursday, March 7, so you won’t have to shop elsewhere while the store is closed. ;)

Our Mystery Quilt class is FULL. Thank you to all of you who registered. I look forward to seeing you Saturday, March 2 – it’s going to be a wonderful, fun day!

Show-Off Saturdays – 2/23/13

A few weeks ago, some of the members of the Heartfelt Creations Quilt Guild went to Memories Manor, here in St. Clair, for a weekend of sewing, laughing, and pampering. Here are photos of some of the projects we saw that weekend.

This is a project Kelly Mertz was working on. I will never, ever, ever put this quilt together!

Kelley Roebke made this top. The wool was appliqued by hand!

This is our retreat group – 2013, along with Jan Zimmer, owner of Memories Manor. Jan knows how to treat her guests, and to show our appreciation, we put this quilt together for her.

Diane McCallum worked on these blocks. This, I might do some day.
